Dr. Myriam Caranzano-Maitre, MD, Executive Director Foundation ASPI, graduated in Medicine at the University of Lausanne in 1982 and has worked in paediatrics in numerous clinics in Switzerland and Algeria.
Myriam has been interested in the theme of Child Protection since the 1980s, qualifying more and more in this specific field. She has been working in the field of Child Abuse and Neglect since 1994. She’s member of the national board of the Swiss Foundation for Child Protection (www.kinderschutz.ch) and has developed the Foundation in the Italian part of Switzerland (www.aspi.ch), bringing them to a professional structure. She has interdisciplinary experience with awareness, training and teaching about Child Abuse and Neglect and with multidisciplinary management of victims. She also promotes children’s rights and prevention programs of Child Abuse and Neglect in schools.
Since the year 2003, she has involved more than 32’000 students in the school of Canton Ticino together with their parents and hundreds of teachers in prevention programs of Child sexual abuse. She also has experience with thousand of parents in non violent educational programs. She is married and mother to four children.
