Abby Sweeney was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, USA and grew up playing soccer, acting in theater productions and playing violin with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra. She received her Bachelor and Masters’ degrees in Interpersonal Communication from Northwestern University, a certificate in Training and Organizational Development from the University of California, Santa Cruz and recently graduated from the Selected Leadership Academy.
During her early career, Ms. Sweeney conducted pilot communication research for NASA Ames and worked in marketing, communications, corporate training and organizational development for Silicon Valley high tech firms before starting her own software training company. She served in the non-profit sector training leaders for the Girl Scouts of America and volunteered for her professional organization as Vice President of Programs, Steering Committee and Workshop Presenter. As Director for her church, Ms. Sweeney led reorganization, program development and volunteer coaching initiatives to build a Music Ministry serving more than 170 events annually. Additionally she has lead a teams to educate, care for and guide families experiencing loss to plan and direct events to celebrate their departed loved ones.
She is excited to bring her experience now to support to the professionals working hard each day to protect children from abuse and neglect globally. Abby and her husband enjoy their 4 sons’ basketball games, time with family and friends, theater, skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, music and surfing.
