Transporting a Parenting Program to Prevent Violence against Children: Lessons Learned from Three Diverse Country Contexts

In this month’s webinar, Dr. Ashley Stewart-Tufescu of the University of Manitoba shares insights from a multi-year international study that assessed the transportability of the Positive Discipline in Everyday Parenting program in three diverse contexts: the chronic conflict zone of Gaza and the West Bank; Ishinomaki, Japan, a region recovering from a natural disaster; and a remote and under served region of Indonesia characterized by deep poverty and illiteracy. Journal Club: A Meta-Analysis of the Prevalence of Child Sexual Abuse Disclosure in Forensic Settings
This Journal Club webinar, hosted by ISPCAN and the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC), features APSAC’s Outstanding Research Article of the Year. Authors Sheri Madigan (left), Corry Azzopardi, and Rachel Eirich discuss their comprehensive meta-analysis of the research on sexual abuse disclosure during forensic interviews with children. Using a large sample of 45 studies and more than 31,000 children, the researchers found that about a third of suspected victims do not report abuse when asked, with those who are younger and male being most at risk for nondisclosure. Click on the link below to learn more about the findings and implications.
