Transportation from the Airport into Nagoya:

Please be aware that taxi service between Nagoya’s Chibu Airport and city center is very expensive and run you about US$150. However, there is excellent train service between the airport and Nagoya and will run about US$12. The fastest myu-sky express trains (Rapid Limited Express) take 28 minutes and it costs 850JPY plus 350JPY for seat reservation in a First Class. Local semi-express trains are also available with the same price, but do not require a reservation surcharge. You would travel from Meitetsu Train Station at the airport to the station located closest to your hotel. For the Crowne Plaza that would be the Kanayama Station and the the Marriot Hotel that would be the Nagoya Station.

Immigration Procedures for Non-Japanese:

From November 20, 2007, foreign nationals who apply for entry into Japan are required to be fingerprinted and photographed (facial photographs) by means of special devices, and then be asked some questions by immigration inspectors.

Applicants will be required to follow the following procedures.

  1. A person wishing to enter Japan must submit his/her passport to the immigration control officer.
  2. Once the immigration control officer has explained the procedures that are to be followed, the person wishing to enter Japan will be asked to place the index fingers of both hands on a digital fingerprint reader. The fingerprint information will be read and stored electromagnetically.
  3. A facial photograph will then be taken, using the camera located at the top of the digital fingerprint reader.
  4. The immigration control officer will then conduct a short interview.
  5. On completion of the above procedures, the person wishing to enter Japan will receive his/her passport from the immigration control officer.
