Clinical experience and expertise: My clinical experience in assessing and providing services to children and families covers the years from 1972 to the present. I am currently a Senior Social Worker – Clinical Specialist in the Department of Psychological Medicine at the Children's Hospital at Westmead, NSW Australia. I provide assessments for the Children's Court Clinic. I am particularly interested in prevention activities and projects. I am currently a leader in an Australian Shaken Baby Prevention Project. My areas of clinical expertise and interest are in the areas of physical abuse prevention, factitious disorder by proxy identification and treatment, treatment of trauma and effects of abuse, loss and neglect of children and young people. I undertake legal assessments of families, children and young people, in relation to parenting capacity generally, attachment, working with denial and promoting change. I provide clinical supervision to mental health and social work professionals. I have worked in a statutory agency, non-government fostering agency, tertiary education service, community health service and hospital settings. I have presented research and discussions papers at a number of Australian and International conferences, and have attended many Child Protection and Children in Care conferences.
