PREAMI Honored by Municipal Council of Women of the City of Esquel

Wednesday, May 30, 2012   (0 Comments)
PROCAPI was a participant in the International Training Program of ISPCAN beginning in 2002 in the province of Chubut, Argentina.

In the city of Esquel, members were chosen locally in terms of professional experience, interest in the topic, and job and professional placement which could encourage the consolidation of a network.

In October 2009, after the PROCAPI project ended in Argentina, the PREAMI  (Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect) group was established in its place. This group currently belongs to the "Educándonos Foundation”. This group is made up of retired professionals who are interested in continuing the work and training started in PROCAPI. They are:
  • Silvia Bullorsky,  sociologist
  • Adela Huaiquimil, first grade teacher
  • Tarasiuk Clara, social worker
  • Alicia Torchia, pediatrician.
Currently the group is working on:
  • Specific support and guidance to several community institutions.
  • Weekly group training meetings since child abuse and neglect is a complex problem.
  • Implementing the use of books created by the group, such as "I Opened the Door" and "Michi Asks for Help" for children three to eight years old.
On International Women's Day, March 8, 2012, the Municipal Council of Women of the City of Esquel, according to the recommendation of the Sexual Education Team of the Ministry of Education and Health of the Province of Chubut, honored the PREAMI Group for their work in the community.
