All ISPCAN members are invited to participate in a week long Virtual Issues Discussion about "Ethical Issues in Child Protection". The purpose of this forum is to initiate a discussion among international professionals on important issues facing the field of child maltreatment world wide. It is hoped that the VID may stimulate new thinking and offer useful ideas to professionals around the world.
"Ethics infuses all our work. Attending to the rights of children and families affected by the psychosocial circumstances that lead to abuse and neglect is a huge challenge as well as an ethical responsibility! Ensuring that we, as professionals, not only "do no more harm” but actually offer safe and evidence informed, if not evidence based, practices is an ethical responsibility. Undertaking high quality assessments, respectful research and participating only ethical medical and legal processes is a high calling! The VID seeks to encourage ISPCAN members to reflect together about this challenge from an international perspective and together generate productive wisdom and helpful strategies."- Sue Foley, Senior Clinical Social Worker, ISPCAN Councilor, Australia
