Under the leadership of Center Director and Pediatric Director Fuyong Jiao, the Shaanxi Friendship Hospital has recently supported, attended, and actively participated under a number of events to promote children's health and prevention of child maltreatment in China.
Recently, 50 Shaanxi Hospital pediatricians participated in a seminar geared towards training child abuse prevention methods. The seminar combined pediatricians from not only China, but Sweden and Israel. The seminar ignited intercultural exchange specifically for different practices and techniques between the three countries.
The hospital provided health evaluations for 82 young Special Olympic Athletes in the 3rd Children's Special Olympics of Xi'an. The pediatricians gave recommendations to sponsors to help make their Olympic experience their best one yet.
On May 3rd the Shaanxi Friendship Hospital along with Xi'an Women's Federation and Xi'an Philanthropic Child Abuse Prevention & Aid Center, hosted an event known as ‘Caring for the Left-Behind Children is Ongoing—Children Get Free Treatment.' The agencies gave free treatment to children. Dr. Jiao treated children personally and gave medicine to children in need of medical care.
Later in the month was the 5th anniversary of the International Child Helpline Day. This year, the event's theme was "Reaching More Children with Information Communication Technologies.” In cooperation with Xi'an Philanthropic Child Abuse Prevention & Aid Centre, the Shaanxi Friendship Hospital started signature and publicity campaigns.
Dr. Fuyong Jiao has been an advocate for the prevention child abuse and neglect for years. His drive to support this cause will only continue with his leadership role at the Shaanxi People's Hospital.
