In 2008, ANPPCAN Malawi, in collaboration with University of North Carolina's Professor Rebbeca, carried out a baseline survey on Child Abuse systems of care in Malawi. The report was submitted to United Nations and Malawi government with a number of issues emerging. One of the issue was Identifying problem of disability and dyslexia in a number of children in Malawi.
Malawi has a new President, Dr Joyce Banda, who was at one point Minister of Gender and Child welfare advocating for safe-motherhood as well as promoting programmes and policies related to girls. Her excellency met with ANPPCAN Malawi Chapter's Country Director, KenWilliams Mhango, curious to know on what ANPPCAN Malawi Chapter is doing in support of children following the baseline report.
Following their discussion, ANPPCAN Malawi is determined to continue their great work with child maltreatment in Malawi and are looking into creative initiatives.
