Des Runyan on TV and in newspaper

Dr. Desmond Runyan, Executive Director of the Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect, professor of pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, and ISPCAN Councilor, was interviewed on 17 December by a local TV station in Denver, Colorado, to discuss the issue of child abuse and neglect. Dr Desmond Runyan's expression of " As a society we must educate future parents while they are still in high school, support new parents, and help young people delay child-bearing until they are old enough to be reasonable parents." leaving so much meaning and in my openion if this much is done a lot we can acheive in preventing CA .But sadly its not done .In India we tried to circulate (a police officer's suggestions) that adolescents should be talked by all Pediatricians about their general well being other than dealing with the clinical problem they have come for ,but a knee jerk reaction came from the superspeciality Pediatricians that its not posible in their busy clinics. In india dealing with CA & Neglect is still considered by Pediatricians as social work & not part of clinical practice,or its general Pediatricians job & not the job of superspeciality Pediatricians.Pediatricians still keeping themselves away from it as they find it difficult.
