Version 1 Issue 1.
The goals of ITPI multidisciplinary
CAN professional team training are based on country needs.
They are, therefore, context specific. However ITPI goals
reflect the ISPCAN defined child abuse prevention efforts.
The training goals of ITPI are
to create a network of CAN professionals:
- Who are rigorously trained and have a greater
understanding of child abuse prevention across disciplines
- Who will, through professional practice,
education, research, advocacy, policy development and service
provision, contribute to the knowledge base for the prevention
of child abuse at the local, regional, national and international
level.
- Who proactively and collectively take actions
towards prevention of CAN while responding professionally
to the children affected.
ITPI multidisciplinary trainings
are conducted in the form of workshops or seminars. Cognizant
that a training methodology one chooses, in part determines
the outcome, we recommend that greater emphasis be placed
on participatory techniques based on adult learning principles.
These techniques provide opportunities for active participation,
cross-disciplinary experience sharing and individual reflection
among others.
