The International Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN), founded in 1977, is a multidisciplinary international professional membership organization that brings together a world wide cross-section of people to work toward the prevention of child abuse, neglect and exploitation. ISPCAN’s goal is to prevent maltreatment of children in every nation, whether maltreatment is in the form of physical abuse, neglect, sexual abuse, child labor, street children, prostitution or another form. ISPCAN provides education to and exchange of knowledge among professionals. ISPCAN also publishes Child Abuse and Neglect: The International Journal.
Learning Objective: to familiarize professionals with child abuse and neglect in other cultural contexts and to improve the effectiveness and cultural sensitivity of professionals working with children of diverse cultural backgrounds.
