The ISPCAN Global Institute is a workshop that will focus on the present international crisis of migrant and refugee children and their families, whose movement across Eastern to Western Europe, from Northern Africa to Europe, from North and Central Africa to Southern African countries, and across US borders has caused enormous stress to child protection services in the receiving countries. Many migrant families are fleeing war, conflict and poverty. The objectives of the global institute are :

-          To understand the challenges facing migrant and refugee families and children;

-          To identify and define appropriate trauma-informed therapeutic responses to the challenges and dilemmas faced by migrant and refugee families, children and communities.

The challenges extend to all aspects of child protection including policy, strategy and responsive programmes and their implementation and those who work with migrant and refugee programmes will be informed by experts who work with these populations and also have the opportunity to share their knowledge and experience with colleagues.

The San Diego Conference on Child and Family Maltreatment will take place January 29 – February 3, 2017, immediately following the Global Institute.  This conference will provide you with the opportunity to hear from over 230 experts providing the latest research, practical experience and skill-building best practices. If you are attending the Global Institute we encourage to consider attending this premier conference.  To see the entire program and registration brochure Click Here
