Car Parking
Car parking is available at the Estrel Hotel and Convention Center at the rate of € 13 per day. Please note that this rate may increase by the time of the conference.

Climate
Berlin is one of the sunniest cities in Germany. The summer tends to be warm. In September, the average high is about 17°C and the average low—8 to 9°C.


Currency
Since January 1, 2002, the Euro has been the official currency in Germany. Foreign currency can be exchanged at the airports, hotels, banks or exchange offices. International credit cards are widely accepted. The current exchange rate is available by using the currency converter at http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi.


Dress
Smart casual attire for all congress sessions and social functions.

Electricity
The electricity supply is 230 volts, 50 Hz. The connection for appliances is a round 2-pin plug.


Language
The official language of the conference is English with one stream to be delivered in German. Simultaneous interpretation of all plenary sessions and one of the streams into German will be available.


Mobile Phones
Only GSM mobile phones with the frequencies of 900 MHz or 1800 MHz will work in Berlin and Germany. Ask you local provider if your mobile phone will work in Germany.

Name Badges
The wearing of identification badges is mandatory and will be required for admission to all sessions, the exhibition and social functions included in the registration fee.


No Smoking
As a courtesy to all conference participants, delegates are requested not to smoke inside the Convention Center (conference area) during the conference.


Passport and Visa Requirements
All visitors to Germany need a valid passport. Citizens of the European Union (EU) and some other countries do not need a visa to enter Germany. Applications for visas can be made at German Embassies or Consulates in major cities around the world. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU APPLY FOR VISA WELL IN ADVANCE OF YOUR DEPARTURE DATE (3 months in advance is recommended). Letter of Invitation
The Conference Secretariat will be pleased to send an official letter of invitation upon request. It is understood that such an invitation is intended to help potential delegates raise travel funds or obtain a visa. It is not a commitment on the part of the Organizing Committee to provide any financial support. Invitation letters should be requested prior to August 1, 2005. The Conference Secretariat will email, fax and post invitations via the standard mail service. Any express mail requests will require payment of € 49.


Time Zone
Berlin operates on Central European time, which is 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+1). Thus, 10:00am in London is 11:00am in Berlin.

Tipping
Tipping is not compulsory in Germany; however, about 5-10% of the bill is an expected tip amount at restaurants.
