The German Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse
and Neglect, GESPCAN (DGgKV), is a nationwide umbrella
organisation with membership of approximately
600 clinical service organisations, scientific institutions
and individual professionals in Germany.
Its main goal is to support all ways of CAN prevention
and intervention in Germany through the development
of a multidisciplinary network of child abuse and neglect
professionals. GESPCAN offers further education to
interested individuals and publishes news on the topic
of child abuse and neglect. It is the German National
Partner of ISPCAN.
GESPCAN membership is open to anyone. GESPCAN offers:
- twice a year we publish the Journal "Kindesmisshandlung
und -vernachlässigung" (Child Abuse and Neglect)
- a newsletter via email 4 times a year
- we offer further education programs on different topics
such as "working with juvenile offenders, working
with adult offenders, planning the process of helping
children", and other topics in the field
- every two years we organise a nation wide conference
about problems of child protection work
- we organise short conferences on different subjects in
the field all over Germany
- we cooperate with national and international
organisations.
