Against Child Abuse (ACA)
2008 marks the beginning of Against Child Abuse (ACA)’s 30th Anniversary year. From a telephone hotline in a borrowed office, ACA now has two centres with a third one in preparation supported by a small team of dedicated staff but many more devoted volunteers. Services range from primary preventive home visitation programs to individual and group therapeutic work.

ACA remains the only non-government organization in Hong Kong specialised in the removal of all forms of child maltreatment. Experience is regularly shared with professionals locally and overseas. ACA is also a strong advocate for the rights of the child the recognition of which is seen as the basis of child protection. Over the years ACA is pleased to witness the gradual acceptance of child rearing without violence and service users turn service providers.

It is therefore a great pleasure and honour for ACA to co-host the 17th ISPCAN International Congress at the commencement of our series of activities to celebrate three decades of work for and with children and families. ACA’s effort to create a caring and nurturing environment for children to develop and grow and to have a childhood they can enjoy must also have been the effort of many colleagues world-wide. So do make an effort to join us in Hong Kong for this memorable event.
