Hani Jahshan, an ISPCAN founder, the Arab regionDr. Hani Jahshan is a Forensic Pathologist and Forensic Physician. He received his Medicine and Surgery degree at the University of Jordan, and the Jordanian Board in Forensic Medicine and Pathology from the Jordanian Medical Council.

In 1998, he was appointed chief forensic physician at the Family Protection Directorate at the Public Security Department in Jordan, which deals with child abuse and sexual violence cases. Prior to that, Dr. Jahshan was a consultant forensic pathologist at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, which is the reference center of medico-legal cases in Jordan.

Dr. Jahshan’s professional activities include, in addition to clinical and pathology practice, teaching in the areas of Forensic Medicine and Child Abuse, to a wide variety of students, including undergraduates and postgraduates, medicine, law, police and civil defense. He is a Forensic Medicine Expert for the Criminal and Civil Courts, a professional member in the Jordan Medical Association, Jordan Society of Pathologists, and the Jordan Society of Forensic Sciences. He also is the Coordinator of the Academic Link between Jordan’s National Institute of Forensic Medicine and John Moores University in Liverpool, United Kingdom.

An Expert Faculty member and the Arab Region Advisor to the International Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN), Dr. Jahshan also is the founder and chairperson of the Arab Professional Network for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (APNPCAN). He has consulted on the development of WHO Guidelines on Sexual Violence, consulted on Jordan’s development of a National Framework for Family Protection and a National Report on Violence and Health, served on the Health and Protection Committees of Jordan’s "World Fit for Children" 10-year strategy, and is the founder and secretary general of a specialized society (JSPVFV) that fights violence against women in its worst forms, especially intra-familial homicide, commonly called Honor Crimes.
