Goals

Because the working group is newly established, the development of goals is still in process. The following goal statements comprise initial thinking regarding what the working group may be able to accomplish:

  • The first goal is to engage countries and participants with existing or planned data programs in order to expand the international community of interest.

  • Secondly, to help develop and promote the goals of national child maltreatment data collection through the ongoing support of informational exchange activities such as presentations, workshops, pre-sessions, and post-sessions on the topic at various forums and conferences.

  • Thirdly, to promote the utilization of data on child maltreatment intervention to inform policy development at national and international levels.

  • Fourthly, to help promote a broader process of development of national data collection programs either through efforts that support the improvement of such systems or the creation of new systems.

  • Fifthly, to provide professional assistance to developing nations in creating and sustaining appropriate data collection programs through the collaborative efforts of the workgroup membership.
